FEW things feel better than the joy of helping rehome a lost or homeless pet into a new forever home. As a volunteer for Clermont Pets Alive!, Clermont County Ohio’s No Kill Initiative, you’ll go to bed knowing you made a difference one furry friend at a time.
As a private, non-profit organization, we rely on the assistance of caring and hard-working volunteers in all of our programs. Some volunteers choose to work directly with animals to increase their chances to find a loving home, while others support the lost and homeless pets through leadership and support roles.
Volunteering to support Clermont County’s lost and homeless pets with Clermont Pets Alive! can be as simple and easy as handing out literature for a few hours at an event, making phone calls to foster and adoptive families to check on the animals placed in their care or doing data entry from the provacy of your home to make the animals available for adoption.
As a Clermont Pets Alive! volunteer you will:
- submit an on-line application to share your skills and interests,
- treat animals in our care with kindness and concern for their welfare,
- represent themselves and CPA! in a professional manner and treat clients with respect, and
- lay your head on the pillow every night KNOWING you’ve made a difference!
Please complete the online Volunteer Application. Once you submit your application our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to match you with a way to bring joy to your life serving the lost and homeless pets of Clermont County.
Thank you for your interest in serving!
What Can You do as a Clermont Pets Alive! Volunteer?
Volunteer opportunities are constantly changing as we grow and develop new programs. Below is an alphabetical listing of some opportunities. All available opportunities are listed on the on-line application.
Assist adoption staff at CPA! offsite locations by answering questions from the public and facilitating introductions between potential adopters and available animals. Follow up with clients after adoption to check in and direct them to an expert to answer their questions or concerns.
Work with our highest need dogs on manners, socialization, and basic obedience to make them more adoptable. Dog Behavior volunteers are eligible to take dogs on field trips and participate in training opportunities.
Data Entry/Office Work
Enter data to keep our processes running smoothly.
Promote CPA!’s mission and recruit volunteers, fosters, adopters, and donors at special events around town. Work at info tables and booths, and hang out with adoptable animals while representing Clermont Pets Alive!.
Provide temporary care for cats or dogs in your home until they can be adopted. You must be the owner/renter of your home and fill out a Foster Care Volunteer Application. See our Foster page for more information.
Clermont Pets Alive! is completely dependent on donations. This committee assists in finding individual and business sponsors; researching and writing grants; overseeing donor recognition; developing and assisting with fund raising events.
Answer calls from the public one day a week to help them rehome their pet instead of taking it to the Clermont County Humane Society (CCHS).
Work with the Clermont County Humane Society (CCHS) to determine which animals to bring into the adoption program based upon available space, coordinate incoming animals with the Foster Coordinator, input new animal info into our database and arrange/provide for transport to foster homes.
Qualifications: Computer skills/internet access, highly organized, ability to remain level headed when faced with emotional decisions.
Help educate the public about CPA! and our mission. Seek public speaking opportunities; presentations at local fairs, farmers’ markets and other events; distribute PR materials at events and local businesses. Create a variety of promotional materials including brochures, ads, posters and flyers.
Ensure pets are up to date on all medical requirements prior to attending adoption events; ensure medical information is in our database; help fosters with medical questions; coordinate medical needs with veterinarians.
